GEVHERİ OSMANOĞLU

Gevherî Osmanoglu (1904-1980) Prince Seyfettin's daughter, and grand daughter of Sultan Abdülaziz. She received her education in France. Having spent some years in exile in Egypt after the War of Independence, she came to Turkey and died in Istanbul. She played the tanbur, kemençe, ud, lavta and piano. Princess Gevherî composed vocal and instrumental pieces in various makams.
